TFI Library's shelves with books

Since 1825, The Franklin Institute’s Library has supported the research needs of inventors, scientists, teachers, and students. It houses a collection of serials dating back to the mid-1800s, monographs for all reading levels on Benjamin Franklin and the physical and life sciences, including content signed by our award laurates, the Louis Sharpe Ware beet sugar collection ("Ware Sugar Collection"), and TFI's archive that captures two centuries of scientific advancement.

The Reading Room is open by appointment only. If you plan to visit and use the collections in person, you can Create an Account before you arrive to have catalog items waiting for you. An online account does not replace our On-Site Visitor Research Form. Appointments should be made a minimum of two weeks in advance of your research visit by emailing the Librarian at library@fi.edu.
